I'm Kunal Kampani, an advertising photographer based in Mumbai with over 20 years of experience creating campaign imagery for some of India's most recognised brands. Before picking up a camera professionally, I spent years inside advertising agencies — at Contract Advertising, Mumbai, and Ogilvy, Bangalore — which means I understand the brief, the art director's vision, and the pressure of a campaign launch from the inside out.

My approach is cinematic and story-driven. Influenced by the work of Gregory Crewdson, Fan Ho, Alex Webb, Josef Koudelka, and cinematographer Christopher Doyle, I think about every frame in terms of light, narrative, and emotion — not just product placement. I work closely with stylists, art directors, production designers, and talent to build images that are technically precise and visually alive.

Over two decades, I've shot campaigns across FMCG, banking, technology, automotive, and lifestyle categories — on location across India and internationally. Whether it's a high-volume FMCG campaign or a premium brand film, I bring the same attention to craft and the same understanding of what agencies need to deliver on time and on brief.

I trained at Light and Life Academy, Ooty — one of India's most respected photography institutions — which gave me the technical foundation to enter the industry with confidence.

I've recently extended my work into film — shooting and directing Khoon, Kaatil aur Suraag, an experimental short that screened at Fantastic Fest (Austin, USA), the London Short Film Festival, and the Indian International Short Film Festival.
